Monkey Business has two official HUNTED PvP badges: Win as a Monster on Monkey Business (ID 1291304217166523) and Win as a Mortal on Monkey Business (ID 989590087465911). The badges confirm the map and roles. They do not state the current team size, abilities, objective, item rules, or route.
Relearn the hotel for PvP
Story-stage landmarks can help you orient, but verify every corridor in the competitive version. Identify a central hotel landmark, two looping lanes, and the most dangerous dead ends. Name areas by visible features so teammates can act on the callout.
Read the live objective at match start. Do not assume the story 100-shard streak or normal exit condition applies. PvP has its own win state, and the badge only requires the role win.
Monster observation plan
Check the current ability descriptions and controls before chasing. Use the first encounter to learn how Mortals move through the hotel, where they pause for objectives, and which junctions let them escape. Pressure a route only when you know the alternate lane.
Do not claim a fixed Monster speed, reveal ability, cooldown, or attack pattern without a current test. If another Dark Deception title uses a similar character, its statistics are not HUNTED facts.
Mortal observation plan
Locate the objective UI, teammate indicators, and safe hotel loops. Avoid committing the whole team to a single narrow branch. When pressure enters the route, rotate toward a second objective or a junction with options.
Use concise callouts and confirm whether a pickup or action is personal or shared. Public sources do not settle shared progress.
Compare both role wins
After one role win, replay the map from the other side. The Monster perspective reveals predictable Mortal pauses; the Mortal perspective reveals which pressure lines are readable or avoidable. Keep the same map version and record the result screen.
Verify each badge independently on your profile. A win as Monster does not imply the Mortal badge, and vice versa.
Story badge confusion
Monkey Business story badges include Shard Enthusiast and Monkey King. Those are not PvP role wins. Use the story map guide for the hotel collection route and this page for competitive badges.
Common failures
- Following a story shard route without reading the PvP objective.
- Using left/right callouts without a landmark.
- Chasing into a loop without knowing the second exit.
- Assuming items or abilities from another Dark Deception game.
- Leaving before the result screen or checking the wrong badge.
Current unknowns
Map differences, roles, team size, Monster identity, Mortal tools, objective, item boxes, cooldowns, victory condition, rotation, tier progress, and balance require current in-game testing. Official pass records confirm Immortal and Items Pass are disabled in PvP.
Opening-minute checklist
Before moving far from spawn, read the role and objective exactly as shown. Identify one central landmark, the nearest connected lane, teammate indicators, and any current ability or interaction text. Confirm that the result you want is the Monster or Mortal badge for Monkey Business, not a story-stage rank or streak. If the map label, role, or objective is different, use the match for general PvP practice rather than a badge test.
For Monster, watch where Mortals reveal their route through required interactions, but do not overcommit past a junction without knowing the return lane. For Mortal, keep two route options until the current Monster pressure is located. A hotel corridor that feels familiar from story play can still have a different competitive purpose or blocked connection.
Post-match review
Record the role, final result, one useful landmark callout, the lane that decided the match, and whether the matching badge appeared. If the badge is absent, verify that the session completed and that the current map was Monkey Business before assuming a hidden requirement. Repeat the same role and map before publishing a tactic.
Keep observations descriptive: “the objective required a pause at this landmark in this build” is useful evidence; “Mortals always stop here” is not. Another objective state, teammate, ability, or update can change the situation. The next match should test one improvement, such as a clearer callout or earlier rotation, rather than an unsupported full meta.
